Transcript: Easy Monkey Bread

Hey Cliff Wildman here with About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make monkey bread. It's an ooey, gooey, delicious dessert that will have your guests coming back to see if there's more.

Monkey Bread Ingredients

For ingredients we're going to need:

  • 4 cans of prepackaged biscuits, that's about 40 biscuits

  • 1 cup of brown sugar - packed

  • one cup of sugar

  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter (or two sticks)

  • 1 tablespoon and a half of cinnamon

  • and this is optional - 1 cup of pecans and raisins mixed as desired

Prep the Monkey Bread Biscuits

The first thing we're going to do is quarter the biscuits, get a knife cut into quarters. When that's done, we're going to take a large ziploc bag, take the sugar and the cinnamon and mix it up very well together. Once that is mixed, take the biscuit quarters, put them into the bag and like shake and bake, we're going to coat the quarter. Once they're well coated thoroughly you go ahead and pull them out, set them aside and repeat with the rest of the quarters until they are all covered well with the sugar and cinnamon mix.

Bake the Monkey Bread

Take a Bundt pan, coat with non-stick cooking spray. Now we can start layering in the biscuits into the pan. once the bottom is well covered, start layering in the pecans and raisins with more biscuits until the pan is nearly full, set this aside.

At this point, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees, take a small sauce pan and put the butter and brown sugar in, we want to cook this on high and bring it to a boil. Once it is boiling, turn off the heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes is done, pour the butter/brown sugar mix over the biscuits. put this in the oven for forty-five minutes. Here's what it looks like at 45 minutes. Let this cool for 15 minutes and then you can take a plate and flip it over and it is ready to eat.
